Bill Frisell has announced a new album, Harmony, due October 4 on Blue Note Records—the guitarist’s debut offering from the label.
In the meantime, Frisell has shared the first track from the upcoming effort, Everywhere, which you can check out above.
The new song, as with the album, features Frisell alongside longtime collaborators Petra Haden (voice) and Hank Roberts (cello and voice), as well as Luke Bergman (acoustic guitar, baritone guitar, bass and voice).
Harmony was produced by longtime collaborator Lee Townsend and features a mix of new compositions, reworked music from Frisell’s catalog and a selection of jazz and Americana covers.
Commented Frisell about the record, “If I think back throughout my whole life, all the music that I’ve loved, why can’t it all be there at the same time? You can play a Bob Dylan song and you can play a standard song or a Charlie Parker song, and they can fit together. Why not? There’s no reason why you can’t have ‘Lush Life’ and ‘Red River Valley’ on the same album. They’re both beautiful songs.”
You can pre-order the album here.
