Savvy guitarists are always looking for melodic inspiration from sources other than guitar players. So anyone who digs beautiful jazz motifs and soaring single-note lines should check out the brand-new album by flutist — and Guitar Player's awesome web manager — Ragan Whiteside.
This is no favor for a co-worker, BTW. Treblemaker is Ragan's fourth album, and she's an accomplished player, a musically sensitive producer, and a fantastic songwriter. In fact, I just received Treblemaker today, and the bouyant, funky strut of her grooves — as well as the sweet tone and melodicism of her playing — had me grabbing my guitar to try out some of my own funky-sophisticated-cool licks. See for yourself...
