Fender has graciously donated ten guitars to Guitar Player's PLAY IT FORWARD benefit to assist musicians who lost instruments in the 2017 NorCal fire devastation.

"Fender and Guitar Player have a long relationship, as Fender was one of our first supporters back in 1967, when the magazine started," says GP Editor Michael Molenda. "It was wonderful that they joined the charity benefit straight off, and I know that ten musicians who lost their guitars in the fires are going to be thrilled with their new Fenders."

Although the fires occurred in October 2017, the media has been running stories on the hardships of rebuilding even six months after the tragedy. GP's call out to guitarists who had to leave their instruments behind as they were evacuated from the firestorm has been met with a huge response.

"I thought many of these players would have replaced their instruments by now," says Molenda. "But the hardships of getting entire lives and livelihoods back on track has obviously slowed the process."

The Guitar Giveaway is a side project of Guitar Player's big PLAY IT FORWARD benefit concert at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, California, on April 20, that stars Andy Summers of the Police, Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Andy Timmons, Mimi Fox, Michael Manring, and others.
