The Guitar Player staff — in association with the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, Eric Barnett, and several wonderful artists — launched a "triple play" charity benefit on April 20, 2018, to assist Sonoma County musicians who had been affected by the devastating Northern California fires last October.

The benefit concert took place at the beautiful Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, California, and the three-part charity event also included an auction of guitars signed by Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, and the concert artists — as well as an ongoing "guitar replacement" program to get instruments back in the hands of players who had lost them in the fires. (Thanks to Fender, Danelectro, and Mitchell for the initial donations. We are reaching out to other manufacturers to complete the program.)

The concert itself featured Andy Summers, Jennifer Batten, Andy Timmons, Mimi Fox, Michael Manring, Tracii Guns, Points North, Gretchen Menn, Noelle Doughty, Stimuli, The Trouble With Monkeys, Patrick Stone, and Jimmy Wells.

You can get a feeling for what went down that night, thanks to Points North bassist Uriah Duffy, who edited the following video about "Play It Forward."

A full report on the event is published in the July 2018 issue of Guitar Player. An online version will post soon. Watch for it!
